Sukhjinder Randhawa’s claim of “United Punjab Congress” is hollow

He himself has admitted that he wants to become both state president and chief minister: Kuldeep Dhaliwal

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab’s chief spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, while hitting back at statements made by Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, said that talk of “unity” within the Congress is merely an attempt to mislead the people, whereas the truth is that the entire Punjab Congress is divided into factions due to infighting and internal conflict.

In a statement issued on Friday, Dhaliwal said that Randhawa is proudly claiming that there is no division in the Punjab Congress and that whoever Rahul Gandhi or in-charge Bhupesh Baghel chooses as the CM face will be acceptable to them. However, just a few days ago, in a TV interview, the same Randhawa said that he wants to become both the state president and the chief minister. He said that a leader who cannot even control his personal ambitions has no moral right to talk about unity.

Dhaliwal said that the issue is not just about the decision of Rahul Gandhi or Bhupesh Baghel. Every senior leader of the Punjab Congress, be it Raja Warring, Charanjit Singh Channi, Pratap Singh Bajwa or Rana Gurjeet, are all “hungry for power.” Each one of them has his own faction. All of them want to see themselves as the chief minister or the party president. Today, the Punjab Congress is divided into dozens of factions, and these leaders are only fighting their personal battles.

The AAP leader clearly stated that these very leaders are responsible for the downfall of the Congress in Punjab. He said that no matter how hard the Congress tries, it will not return to power in Punjab. Its 50-year history stands as proof that the Congress has only witnessed factionalism and internal strife.

Challenging Randhawa, Dhaliwal said that if Randhawa truly loves Punjab, then he should openly state that whoever the party makes the CM candidate, he will accept it unconditionally.

Dhaliwal expressed confidence that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the AAP government has carried out historic, people-centric works over the past years. He said that in the remaining one year, even bigger development works will be undertaken. In 2027, whether these Congress factions unite or remain divided, the people of Punjab have already rejected them. On the basis of work, the Aam Aadmi Party will once again form the government in Punjab.
