Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has said the state government will bring a white paper on corruption, backed by facts and evidence. He accused the BJP of raising corruption allegations despite having members in its chargesheet committee who had themselves faced such allegations in the past.
Sukhu said the state government has written to the Centre seeking the release of the ₹1,500 crore disaster relief amount announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that another letter would also be sent to the Centre regarding the matter.
Targeting BJP leaders, the Chief Minister alleged that they do not travel beyond Parwanoo and fail to raise issues concerning Himachal Pradesh with the central government. He also claimed that the achievements of BJP MPs are visible only on social media.
Sukhu further alleged that the BJP's Deep Kamal office has a dedicated social media team and accused party leaders of focusing on finding documents against him. Referring to an ADR report, he claimed that a flat purchased for ₹14 lakh around 20 years ago had been shown as being worth ₹2 crore.
The Chief Minister made the remarks during an informal interaction with journalists.
Cabinet Expansion Soon
On the proposed expansion of his cabinet, Sukhu said an initial meeting had already been held. He added that discussions would now be held with the party high command, after which the cabinet expansion would be carried out.
On the cadre strength of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, Sukhu said the number of officers should remain within the prescribed limit. He described the approach as part of the government's efforts to move Himachal Pradesh towards self-reliance.
No Paper Leaks Under Present Government, Says Sukhu
Sukhu also highlighted the government's recruitment drive, saying jobs were being provided regularly and that examination performance was reaching levels of up to 80 per cent.
He asserted that there would be no paper leaks under the present government. "Anyone who leaks a paper will be behind bars," he said, stressing that strict action would be taken against those involved in examination paper leaks.
