20 Team Captains to Address Media on February 5 Ahead of Tournament Starting February 7
The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is set to begin on February 7, and ahead of the marquee tournament, the International Cricket Council has announced the Captains’ Day event. The special media interaction will take place on February 5 in two cities—Mumbai, India, and Colombo, Sri Lanka. During the Captains’ Day, team captains will interact with the media and share their views on preparations, strategies, and expectations ahead of the tournament.
A total of 12 team captains will participate in the Captains’ Day event in Mumbai. The program will be held at the BCCI office located at the Wankhede Stadium. Captains from India, Afghanistan, Canada, England, Italy, Namibia, Nepal, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, the United States, and West Indies will be present at the Mumbai event. To ensure smooth media interactions, the captains have been divided into two groups.
According to the schedule, the press conference for Group 1 will begin at 3:00 PM, while Group 2 will address the media at 3:30 PM. During these sessions, captains are expected to speak about their teams’ preparations, player fitness, team combinations, pitch conditions, and strategies for the World Cup. With several top international teams represented, the Mumbai event is likely to draw significant media attention.
Meanwhile, the remaining eight team captains will take part in the Captains’ Day event in Colombo. The ICC has decided to organize the Captains’ Day in two different cities this time to make the event more inclusive and wide-reaching.
