Targeted killing averted in Bathinda: Three linked to Arsh Dalla gang held with 4 Pistols

One of arrested accused arrived from Canada to execute the planned shooting : DGP

Counter Intelligence (CI) Bathinda in coordination with Bathinda Police has averted a targeted killing with the arrest of three accused linked to the Arsh Dalla gang and recovered four illegal pistols along with four magazines and 26 live cartridges, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Tuesday.

Those arrested have been identified as Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Gill Patti in Bathinda and currently residing in Canada; Gurwinder Singh, a resident of Kotshamir in Bathinda; and Gagandeep Singh, a resident of village Bhokhra in Bathinda. The recovered pistols include one Glock, one Zigana, one .30 bore pistol and one .32 bore pistol. Apart from recovering four pistols, police teams have also impounded a Hyundai Verna car without registration number.

DGP said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused were planning to execute a targeted killing. One of the arrested accused identified as Kuldeep Singh had recently arrived from Canada to Bathinda specifically to execute the planned shooting, he said.

SSP Bathinda Amneet Kondal said that during interrogation, the accused disclosed about their involvement in an ongoing inter-gang rivalry. An FIR has been registered at Police Station Thermal in Bathinda, she said, while adding that further investigation is underway to uncover forward and backward linkages.

Sharing operational details, AIG CI Bathinda Avneet Kaur Sidhu said that CI Bathinda had received specific information from reliable sources that shooters associated with the Arsh Dalla gang are in possession of illegal weapons and have hatched a conspiracy to execute a targeted killing. Acting swiftly on the information, a team of CI Bathinda along with District Police Bathinda laid Naka at Near Sucha Singh Nagar at Goniana road and arrested accused persons, she added.

In this regard, a case FIR no 3 dated 05.01.2026 has been registered under sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act Police Station Thermal in Bathinda.
