A woman driving a red Mahindra Thar allegedly hit two motorcycle-borne youths in Chandigarh's Dhanas area on Monday night. The impact left both riders injured and the Thar later crashed into an electric pole after the driver allegedly tried to flee the spot.
According to the information available, the woman was driving through Dhanas when the Thar collided with the motorcycle carrying two youths. Following the accident, she allegedly attempted to leave the scene.
People present nearby chased the vehicle. During the pursuit, the woman reportedly drove the Thar onto a divider, following which the vehicle went out of control and crashed into an electricity pole.
The woman remained inside the Thar after the crash. Local residents subsequently informed the police, who reached the spot and took the vehicle into custody.
The two injured youths were shifted to a hospital for treatment. Police questioned the woman driver and said further action would be taken after recording the statements of the injured riders.
The police are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident, including the alleged attempt to flee the spot.
