Three players from Haryana will be honored with the National Sports Award 2023 for their excellent performance in sports. Haryana's golfer Diksha Dagar has been selected for the Arjuna Award. In wrestling, Sunil Kumar and the latter will receive the Arjuna Award. Apart from this, Kurukshetra University has been declared the second runner-up of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy 2023.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal has heartily congratulated the players of Haryana on being selected for the National Sports Award. He said that the players of Haryana display their highest potential in various national and international level competitions. The players have taken themselves to a new level with their hard work and dedication. As a result of this, he has been selected for the National Sports Award.
CM said with happiness and pride that Haryana continues to remain number-1 in sports. He said that the players of the state have brought glory to Haryana by making their unique contribution in various sports and he is proud of it. The Chief Minister said that the government is working to strengthen the facilities required for sports and this will continue so that the players of Haryana continue to perform brilliantly in every field.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has today announced the National Sports Award 2023. National Sports Awards are given annually to recognize and honor excellence in sports. This year, 2 players will be given Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award 2023 and 26 players will be given Arjun Award 2023. Five trainers will receive the Dronacharya Award. Apart from this, three players will be honored with Dhyanchand Award 2023 for lifetime achievement in sports and games. All these National Sports Awards will be given by the President of India in a specially organized ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 9 January 2024.
