Pays Tribute to Martyrs at Shaheedi Memorial in Police Lines

Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the grand parade during the 77th District-level Republic Day function held at Yamunanagar. He also visited the Shaheedi Memorial at the Police Lines and paid homage to the martyrs.
On this occasion, Anil Vij extended heartfelt Republic Day greetings and best wishes to the families of freedom fighters, martyrs’ families, senior citizens, mothers and sisters, youth, children, administrative officers, police personnel, NCC, NSS, school students, journalists and eminent citizens of the district. The Cabinet Minister announced Rs. 21 lakh for distribution of sweets and gifts to participating students and also declared a holiday on January 27.
Addressing the gathering, Vij said that Republic Day is not merely a festival but a symbol of India’s unwavering commitment to the Constitution, democracy and national values. He recalled that on January 26, 1950, the Constitution of India came into force, providing the pillars of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, and establishing India as a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic.
He paid tribute to the chief architect of the Constitution, Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and all members of the Constituent Assembly, stating that their vision and tireless efforts have ensured a strong and vibrant democratic framework. He also remembered Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Lala Lajpat Rai, Dr. Rajendra Prasad and all freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
Vij said that since Independence, India has continuously progressed and today stands as a strong, self-reliant and influential nation on the global stage. He credited this achievement to the relentless efforts of farmers, workers, artisans, scientists, soldiers and youth.
