Warring condemns registration of FIR against journalists

Don’t shoot the messenger, better correct yourself, tells AAP
Taunts Punjab Police to show same swiftness in hunting criminals/gangsters

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today condemned the registration of an FIR against some journalists and RTI activists, saying this was the new low of the Aam Aadmi Party government in trying to gag the freedom of expression of common people and it showed it frustration and insecurity.
“I wish the AAP government and its police were as proactive in hunting down the criminals and gangsters as the swiftness they have shown in chasing the journalists and the RTI activists, Punjab would be a much better and a much safer place today”, he noted, while taking a dig at teh Punjab Police for going out of way to target the journalists and RTI activists who are doing their job lawfully.
Warring said that instead of shooting the messenger, the AAP govt should try to correct itself although it is quite late in the day for it. “Don’t shoot the messenger, better correct yourself”, he told the government while pointing out that those who have been slapped with the FIRs have only been trying to show mirror to the government.
All these years the AAP government has purchased the “oxygen of publicity” for survival by spending hundreds of crores of rupees on advertisements and still found itself exposed by a few individuals whom it has started targeting in vengeance. “Slapping FIRs against journalists only reveals how insecure and frustrated the AAP government was feeling that it was trying to use its entire might against a few individuals who were only exposing the truth about the government”, Warring pointed out.
While expressing solidarity with and support to the journalists and RTI activists, the PCC president said that they had done an outstanding service for the state and every Punjabi stood by them.
He cautioned the police officers, who are being used by the AAP to intimidate the innocent people, to exercise utmost caution and discretion. “You will have to account and answer for all your actions as nobody will come to your rescue then”, he told all such police officials who are going out of way to please their political bosses.
“Everything is being noted, recorded and remembered. Nothing will be forgotten and nothing will be forgiven”, he warned.
