The weather across Punjab and Chandigarh is expected to remain completely dry and clear on the auspicious occasion of Diwali today. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no chance of rain anywhere in the state, and weather conditions are likely to remain largely clear over the next two days. However, light to moderate fog may envelop isolated pockets during the early morning and late night hours, bringing a slight chill.

According to the Meteorological Department, a fresh western disturbance is expected to become active in the hilly regions starting November 10. Under its influence, light showers may occur at a few places across Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on November 11 and 12. Additionally, rainfall and snowfall in higher reaches of neighboring Himachal Pradesh are also anticipated. So far, the Met department has not issued any warning regarding heavy rainfall or thunderstorms for Punjab and Chandigarh.

On the other hand, rising pollution levels amid the festive celebrations remain a major concern. Although northwesterly winds are currently helping clear the air, a drop in wind speed over the coming days could cause pollution levels to surge rapidly. Smoke generated from firecrackers on Diwali night is expected to further degrade air quality. Due to low wind speeds, pollutants are likely to remain trapped in the atmosphere for longer periods, potentially causing respiratory discomfort and haziness for residents.
