When daughters are educated, the entire family, society, and nation move forward, with this aim Prime Minister, Narendra Modi launched the nationwide ‘Beti Bachao- Beti Padhao’ campaign. Institutions like Seth Navrang Rai Lohia Jairam Girls College are carrying forward this vision of the Prime Minister, he added.

Earlier, he inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp. During the programme, the Chief Minister also announced a grant of Rs. 21 lakh for the institution.

The 25-year journey of this institution is not merely a number but a story of struggle, dedication, and success. He said that inspired by the late Pujya Devender Swaroop Brahmachari, the late Mohan Lal Lohia had established this college in memory of his father. At that time, awareness about girls’ education in villages was minimal. Today, this college has become the foundation of a bright future for thousands of girls from nearby rural regions.

The students of this college have excelled not only in academics but also in sports, cultural activities, social service, and research. The girls who studied here are now making a mark at national and international levels. Institutions like Seth Navrang Rai Lohia Jairam Girls College are the true heritage of Haryana, contributing to the creation of a developed and progressive state.

Saini said that the government has ensured that a college is available within a 20 km radius so that no girl is deprived of higher education because of distance. In the past 11 years, 80 new government colleges have been established in the state, out of which 30 are exclusively for girls. To facilitate their commute, the government provides free travel for girl students up to 150 km in Haryana Roadways buses. 29 government women ITIs are functioning in the state to promote technical education among girls, where each girl student is given a monthly stipend of Rs. 500. Haryana was also the first state to implement the National Education Policy, he added.

33 percent reservation for women in post graduate teacher recruitment

The Chief Minister further said that to ensure poverty does not hinder girls’ education, the government provides free education up to the postgraduate level to daughters of families with an annual income of up to Rs. 1.8 lakh. Moreover, 33 percent reservation has been granted to women in the recruitment of Post Graduate Teachers (PGT). He said that Haryana, once counted among states with a low sex ratio, has not only overcome this stigma but has also set an example for other states as well. As a result of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign, the sex ratio at birth in Haryana has improved from 871 in 2014 to 909 today.
