In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old man was shot dead in broad daylight near Rajatal village in the Attari region of Amritsar on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Sohna Singh, a resident of Rajatal village. According to reports, he had left his home in the morning to go to work, as part of his daily routine. However, as he reached near the village, unidentified assailants who were reportedly lying in wait opened fire on him, shooting multiple rounds.
Sohna Singh collapsed on the spot and died instantly due to the attack.
After carrying out the crime, the accused fled from the scene, taking away the victim’s motorcycle and mobile phone. The sound of gunfire alerted nearby residents, who rushed to the spot, but the attackers had already escaped.
Upon receiving information, a police team immediately reached the scene, cordoned off the area, and began an investigation. The body has been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination.
Police officials stated that the motive behind the murder is not yet clear and that all angles are being thoroughly investigated. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused at the earliest.
