The Governor of Haryana, Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya, participated in the closing ceremony of the First Global SSI Multi-Specialty Robotic Surgery Conference held at Leela Ambience, Gurugram. Governor Dattatraya expressed his commitment to encourage the field of robotics in Haryana, especially in the healthcare sector. He emphasized the cost-effectiveness of robotic surgery for both patients and doctors, stating that further innovations are necessary in this field.
Governor, Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya highlighted the significance of robotic surgery, also known as robot-assisted surgery, as a representation of cutting-edge progress in medical technology. He mentioned that the advancement of robotic surgery in the country would undoubtedly benefit the underprivileged population. He credited Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi for India's growing self-reliance in the healthcare sector, particularly through the 'Make in India' initiative, which has transformed the country into a global manufacturing hub for medical devices. By promoting indigenous manufacturing and innovation, we have not only reduced our dependence on imports, but also made quality health care more accessible and affordable.
Acknowledging the transformative journey in healthcare under Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal's leadership, the Governor mentioned initiatives such as the Chirayu scheme, providing free OPD treatment and medicines to families below a certain income limit, benefiting over ten lakh patients. Apart from it, he praised the Nirogi Haryana scheme, offering free health check-ups to more than five lakh families.
Governor, Sh. Dattatraya citing the COVID-19 pandemic, commending the efforts of Indian scientists in developing vaccines that safeguarded human life globally. He emphasized India's contribution to global health equality by exporting over fifty million vaccine doses to more than ninety countries, becoming a potential supplier of cost-effective vaccines.
He highlighted digital healthcare initiatives like Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, CoWIN, Arogya Setu, e-Sanjeevani, and e-Hospital, which have extended healthcare facilities and services to every corner of India. The Governor also mentioned the success of Ayushman Bharat, the world's largest health insurance scheme, benefiting approximately twenty-five crore beneficiaries. He commended the e-Sanjeevani portal, providing over a hundred million remote consultations in distant villages, ensuring specialist care reaches those who need it the most.
During the programme, recorded messages from Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, besides other dignitaries such as Dr. Sudhir P. Srivastava, Dr. Husem Balakhi, and former ISRO Director Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai were also showcased.
