Haryana Govt Declares Paid Holidays for Voters in Neighboring States for Lok Sabha Elections 

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh, April 8 -
The Haryana Government has declared paid holidays for employees hailing from neighboring states who are registered voters there, to cast their vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha (General Elections) 2024. A notification to this effect was issued by Chief Secretary T.V.S.N. Prasad.
Under the provisions of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, and Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the following dates have been designated as paid holidays for employees working in all Haryana Government offices, boards, corporations, educational institutions, as well as various factories, shops, commercial, and private establishments located in Haryana:

Uttar Pradesh: April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1, Uttarakhand: April 19,
Rajasthan: April 19 and April 26, NCT Delhi: May 25, Himachal Pradesh: June 1, Punjab: June 1, UT Chandigarh: June 1,
Additionally, employees and workers of various factories, shops, commercial, and private establishments located in Haryana who are registered voters in the aforementioned states/UTs will be entitled to a paid holiday under Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, to exercise their franchise.
It is important to note that employees shall be entitled to paid leave only on the day of the poll in their respective parliamentary constituencies.
