Indian cricket team vice-captain Shreyas Iyer showcased his fitness and form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy with an impressive performance. Leading Mumbai against Himachal Pradesh in Jaipur, Iyer scored 81 runs, putting his team in a strong position. Iyer was recently selected for Team India’s series against New Zealand, but his participation depended on proving his fitness and form.

In the same match, Suryakumar Yadav scored 24 runs, while Musheer Khan contributed 73 before getting out. Young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal added 15 runs, and Sarfaraz Khan scored 21. After 25 overs, Mumbai had reached 218/4, highlighting contributions from both the top and middle order. Iyer’s half-century not only strengthened Mumbai’s position on the scoreboard but also reassured selectors about his readiness for longer international tournaments.

Meanwhile, in Ahmedabad, Karnataka posted 324 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 50-over match against Rajasthan. Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal scored a century, giving his team a solid total. Devdutt Padikkal also performed brilliantly, scoring 91 runs and narrowly missing a century by just 9 runs. Padikkal became the first batsman to score over 300 runs in three consecutive Vijay Hazare Trophy seasons, reflecting his consistency and form.

Overall, these matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy highlighted the strong performances of both experienced and young Indian cricketers. Iyer’s half-century for Mumbai and the big scores from Agarwal and Padikkal for Karnataka added excitement to the tournament and showed that players continue to work hard in domestic competitions to maintain their international readiness.
