The sacred land of Sri Muktsar Sahib is etched in the golden pages of history: Nayab Singh Saini

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh :

Punjab and Haryana are bound by blood, brotherhood and shared culture; AAP government has betrayed the trust of the people: Haryana Chief Minister

Haryana CM Saini said that Punjab and Haryana are not merely neighbouring states, but are deeply connected through blood relations, brotherhood and shared cultural values. He said the people of Haryana have immense affection for Punjab and always stand by it in times of need. Referring to the recent natural calamity in Punjab, CM Saini said that during the difficult period, Haryana extended every possible support, standing with Punjab like an elder brother, reflecting the region’s rich traditions and values.

CM Saini was addressing a large gathering during the Maghi Mela at Sri Muktsar Sahib. Paying obeisance to the sacred soil of Sri Muktsar Sahib, he said that visiting this historic place was a matter of great honour for him. He described Sri Muktsar Sahib as a land immortalised in the golden chapters of history, where the Chali Mukte laid down their lives for their beloved Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He said this sacred land teaches that liberation is not attained only after death, but also by walking on the path of truth and standing firmly against injustice. On the occasion, CM Saini extended warm greetings to the people on the festival of Makar Sankranti.

Speaking about the recent natural disaster in Punjab, CM Saini said that the people of Haryana stood shoulder to shoulder with Punjab and provided assistance in every possible manner. However, he expressed regret that during this difficult time, some leaders failed to show sensitivity towards the suffering of the people.

CM Saini alleged that when Punjab needed strong leadership the most during the crisis, it was missing. He said the Punjab government had made several promises to the public, but when the time came to shoulder responsibility, the government appeared to evade accountability.

Highlighting the achievements of the Haryana government, CM Saini said that during the Assembly elections, a Sankalp Patra containing 217 promises was released, out of which 54 commitments have already been fulfilled within one year, while work on the remaining promises is progressing rapidly. In contrast, he said, most of the promises made by the Punjab government have remained confined to paper.

CM Saini said that Haryana has become the first state in the country where all crops are procured at Minimum Support Price (MSP). Farmers receive payment within 48 hours, and in case of any delay, interest is also paid, which has strengthened farmers’ trust in the system.

On the issue of stubble management, CM Saini said that while no effective steps have been taken in Punjab, the Haryana government is providing subsidies on agricultural machinery and an incentive of Rs 1,200 per acre to farmers for stubble management.

He further said that irregularities under the MGNREGA scheme have surfaced in Punjab, but despite complaints, no concrete action has been taken. Concluding his address, CM Saini said that the double-engine government in Haryana has significantly accelerated the pace of development and ensured effective implementation of welfare schemes.
