A case has come to light in Amritsar in which a woman allegedly assaulted a five-year-old girl in the middle of the road. The woman allegedly slapped the child several times and dragged her towards her house. CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced, showing the woman holding the child and allegedly hitting her multiple times within a few seconds.

The incident took place at around 7 pm on Thursday in the Dharampura area near Joda Phatak in Amritsar. According to the girl’s family, the child, identified as Maaniya, had stepped out of her house to buy some items. During this time, a woman identified as Anmol, who lives in the neighbourhood, allegedly began assaulting her.

The CCTV footage shows the woman allegedly knocking the girl to the ground. She then appears to drag the child towards her house. When the girl’s mother, Priyanka, reached the spot to rescue her daughter, the woman allegedly assaulted her as well.

The situation came under control after local residents reached the spot and rescued the child from the woman. According to the girl’s father, Pankaj, a tuition teacher also reached the spot and helped rescue the child.

According to the family, Maaniya already has a problem related to her legs and wears special footwear. The girl’s mother said the situation could have become more serious if local residents had not reached the spot in time and rescued the child.

The family has lodged a complaint against the woman with the police. Police have taken the CCTV footage into possession and started an investigation. The family said the reason why the woman allegedly attacked the child has not yet been established.

Some local residents claimed that the woman has been facing mental health-related issues and that people in the neighbourhood had previously faced problems because of her behaviour. However, there is no official confirmation of this claim so far. Her mental health status can be established only after the police investigation.

Maaniya’s father has appealed to the Amritsar Police Commissioner to investigate the matter and take appropriate action.
