Fourth Death in 10 Days in Khadoor Sahib Exposes Hollow Claims

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-

Padma Shri Pargat Singh, MLA and Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, today expressed grave concern over Punjab’s deepening drug crisis. He slammed the Aam Aadmi Party government for reducing the fight against narcotics to a “publicity gimmick,” while Punjab’s youth continue to die.

Highlighting that Khadoor Sahib has witnessed four drug-related deaths in just the last ten days, Singh said this tragic reality exposes the hollowness of AAP’s so-called ‘War on Drugs.’

“This is not the opposition’s allegation—it is Punjab’s tragedy. A government that cannot save its youth from drugs has abandoned its foremost duty. Punjab needs action, not slogans. Public relations events cannot wash away the pain of grieving families,” Singh said.

He pointed out that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had publicly declared on May 31 that Punjab would be “drug-free,” a claim that now stands completely discredited. “Punjab, the land of Gurus and saints, cannot be allowed to drown in narcotics. The government must wake up before more lives are lost,” he added.

Singh demanded urgent, concrete steps to dismantle the drug supply chain, strengthen rehabilitation, and hold complicit officials accountable. “The Congress has always stood against drugs and will continue to stand firm to save Punjab’s future,” he asserted.
