Ambala Cantonment to Become a Metropolitan City: Seven New Sectors to Be Developed Across 1,000 Acres

Energy Minister Gives New Momentum to Development

Ambala Cantonment to Expand up to the Ring Road; New Sectors to Have Modern Infrastructure; Applications Open on E-Bhoomi Portal: Anil Vij

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh –

Haryana’s Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister Anil Vij said that the process to develop seven new sectors under the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) has begun. This will not only expand the city’s boundaries but also significantly improve residential facilities, paving the way for Ambala to become a metropolitan city in the future.

Vij expressed gratitude to Haryana Chief Minister Sh.Nayab Singh Saini for approving the development of the seven new sectors in Ambala Cantonment. He said that the government is accelerating infrastructure development works, which is a commendable step.

Seven Sectors to Be Developed Over 1,000 Acres in These Villages

Vij said that seven new sectors will be developed over approximately 1,000 acres in Ambala Cantonment Assembly constituency and adjoining villages including Ghasitpur, Buhawa, Shahpur, Brahman Majra, Kardhan, Sarsehri, Chandpura, Machhonda, Ugada, Dukheri, Salarheri, Ranwala, Manglei, and Sambhalkha.

For this purpose, the state government has opened the E-Bhoomi portal for applications for the next two months, until April 30, 2026. Landowners can apply on the portal to contribute land for sector development.

The proposed sectors in Ambala Cantonment will included Sector 27, Sector 28, Sector 36, Sector 40, Sector 40-A, Sector 41-A and Sector 42. The new sectors will include residential areas, open spaces, commercial zones, transport and communication facilities, and industrial spaces.

Sh.Anil Vij said that with the development of these seven new sectors, Ambala Cantonment will evolve into a metropolitan city, expanding up to the Ring Road. This marks a major step toward the expansion and modernization of Ambala Cantonment.

Keeping in view the construction of the Ring Road in Ambala, Vij had written to the Haryana government last year requesting the development of new HSVP sectors in Ambala Cantonment. He also held meetings with officials regarding the matter.

He had pointed out that the Ring Road construction is underway in Ambala and the city is rapidly expanding. He had suggested conducting a survey to identify suitable locations along the Ring Road where HSVP sectors could be developed.

Applications for Land Acquisition Through ‘E-Bhoomi’ Portal

Minister Anil Vij said that the government has ensured transparency in the land acquisition process for the new sectors by using the E-Bhoomi portal. Farmers or landowners who voluntarily wish to sell their land to the government can submit applications through the portal. Landowners will receive fair compensation for their land and will be able to directly participate in the development process, he added.
