The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, firmly applauded the crucial decision by the Punjab and Haryana High Court that has decisively put the contentious Land Pooling Policy of the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab Government on hold.
"This scheme was an outright violation of the Land Acquisition Act established under the visionary leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh. This policy's purpose was to circumvent social and environmental impact assessments, enabling the government to seize farmers' land and threaten the very foundation of our agrarian economy," Bajwa asserted.
Senior Congress Leader Bajwa highlighted that the High Court recognized the serious challenges faced not only by farmers but also by landless laborers who rely on agricultural work, emphasizing that the government had provided no rehabilitation plans for them.
"We stand united in saluting the high court for defending our lands and preserving the identity of Punjab. The Advocate General's inability to defend the policy today speaks volumes. I assure my fellow Punjabis, on behalf of my entire party, that we will not allow any form of land exploitation in Punjab. This landmark decision vindicates our stance, and we will relentlessly expose the corrupt and malevolent actions of the current regime, which is reminiscent of Ahmad Shah Abdali in its intent to ravage and pillage our state," Bajwa declared with resolve.
