A new development has emerged in the murder case of Punjabi truck driver Taranpreet Singh Sidhu(29), who was allegedly shot dead in Canada on July 15. His family has urged the Canadian authorities to intervene and ensure that the killers are identified and brought to justice at the earliest.

Sidhu had moved to Canada in 2016 on a study visa and later began working as a truck driver. He obtained Canadian permanent residency in 2022.

According to his family, Sidhu had returned from the United States for work on the day of the incident. After he parked his truck at the truck yard, he was allegedly attacked and shot multiple times. His body was later recovered from a lake in the Stoney Creek area near Fruitland Road, around 60 kilometres from the reported crime scene.

Following the murder, Sidhu's parents travelled to Canada and performed their son's last rites. A Shanti Path was held at the family's residence in Patiala on Saturday.

The family said they have already approached Hamilton Police and are hopeful that the investigation will lead to the identification and arrest of those responsible.

The family has also expressed concern over what it described as a growing pattern of Indian nationals being targeted in Canada and appealed to the authorities to take the matter seriously and ensure justice for Sidhu.
