Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday visited Jalandhar for the second time in a month and organized a ‘Lok Milni’ programme at his residence, where thousands of people gathered to present their grievances. The Chief Minister patiently listened to residents from Jalandhar and nearby areas and issued on-the-spot directions to officials to ensure immediate resolution of their concerns.
Describing ‘Lok Milni’ as the most effective platform for grievance redressal, CM Mann stated that Punjab is the only state where the Chief Minister personally conducts such a comprehensive public outreach initiative. He said the programme strengthens direct communication between the government and citizens while also serving as a mechanism to assess the performance of officials.
Reiterating the Aam Aadmi Party government’s commitment to honesty and accountability, the Chief Minister emphasized that the ‘Lok Milni’ initiative will continue in the future to ensure transparent, responsive, and people-focused governance.
Highlighting youth empowerment, CM Mann said that more than 63,000 jobs have been provided without corruption or recommendation. In the education sector, Schools of Eminence have been established with smart classrooms, modern laboratories, and sports facilities. Teachers and principals are being sent abroad for specialized training to upgrade teaching standards and prepare students for global competition.
In healthcare, the Chief Minister noted that under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, 65 lakh families are eligible for cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh. A total of 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics are providing free medical services across the state. Around 90% of households in Punjab are receiving free electricity, and farmers were supplied eight hours of uninterrupted daytime power during the paddy season.
CM Mann also announced that provisions will be made in the upcoming budget to implement a scheme providing ₹1,000 per month to every woman in the state. He assured that every promise made to the people will be fulfilled, reiterating that the sole agenda of the government is the progress and prosperity of Punjab and its citizens.
