Four bridges over Swan Nadi and Sutlej to benefit over 100 villages and strengthen connectivity with Himachal Pradesh

Punjab Education Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains today reviewed the progress of infrastructure development projects worth over ₹100 crore in the Sri Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency. The projects include the construction of four major bridges over the Swan Nadi and the Sutlej River, aimed at significantly improving regional connectivity.

During a meeting held at his office with Ropar district administration and officials of the concerned departments, the Minister assessed the status of bridges being constructed at Bhallari–Khera Kalmot, Algran, Kalitran–Bela Dhiyani, and Bela Dhiyani–Plassi. He stated that the completion of these bridges would directly benefit more than 100 villages and ensure smoother connectivity with the neighbouring state of Himachal Pradesh.

S. Bains emphasized that once completed, the projects would substantially reduce travel time for commuters, providing major relief to local residents. He added that improved connectivity would also boost inter-state trade and accelerate economic activities in the region. Enhanced road and bridge infrastructure, he said, would give fresh momentum to local businesses, agriculture, and small industries, thereby contributing to overall regional development.

The Minister directed officials to expedite the execution of all projects within the stipulated timelines while strictly maintaining high standards of durability and quality. He warned that negligence or unnecessary delays would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against those found responsible.

Reiterating the commitment of the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, S. Bains said the government remains dedicated to providing modern and world-class infrastructure to the people of the state, ensuring better facilities and new opportunities for growth and development.
