India's star all-rounder Deepti Sharma has etched her name in cricket history by becoming the highest wicket-taker in women's international cricket. She achieved the milestone during India's ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 match against Australia, surpassing the legendary Jhulan Goswami's record of 355 international wickets.
Heading into the match, Deepti needed just one wicket to overtake Goswami. She reached the landmark in style by dismissing Australia's dangerous opening batter Beth Mooney with the very first ball of her spell in the 10th over. The breakthrough took her tally to 356 international wickets, making her the most successful wicket-taker in the history of women's international cricket.
The match marked Deepti's 279th international appearance, further highlighting her remarkable consistency and longevity at the highest level. Her record-breaking achievement came after she had already equalled Goswami's tally of 355 wickets before the tournament.
Deepti has been in outstanding form throughout the Women's T20 World Cup 2026.
She announced her arrival in the tournament with a sensational five-wicket haul against Pakistan, underlining her dominance with the ball and setting the stage for the historic milestone.
With 356 international wickets, Deepti Sharma now sits at the top of the all-time list of wicket-takers in women's international cricket, while Jhulan Goswami moves to second place with 355 wickets, ending her long reign at the summit.
