Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Friday shut entry and exit facilities at 11 metro stations in view of protests announced by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and student organisations.

The affected stations include Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, Seva Teerth, Mandi House, Lok Kalyan Marg, INA, Chawri Bazar, New Delhi and Ramakrishna Ashram Marg. The entry and exit restrictions will remain in place until further notice.

However, interchange facilities will continue to be available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, New Delhi and Central Secretariat stations to facilitate passengers.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police has imposed restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) at Jantar Mantar.

A protest is scheduled to be held at Jantar Mantar on Friday over a demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The area has been placed under heightened security ahead of the demonstration.

Barricades have been installed on major roads leading to Jantar Mantar, with a large number of security personnel deployed in the area. Access to Jantar Mantar had already been restricted on Thursday, with members of the general public not being allowed to enter.

Several roads leading towards the protest site have been barricaded, including the route from Janpath. Pedestrians have also been stopped from crossing the barricades.
