Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that every mother and sister in the state is a brand ambassador of the Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana. He said the scheme aims to provide financial assistance to women while strengthening their dignity and financial independence. According to the Chief Minister, more than 75 lakh women have registered under the scheme so far, and ₹3,824.87 crore has been directly transferred to their bank accounts as financial assistance.

Mann said the state government has set a target of bringing one crore women under the scheme. According to him, around 97 per cent of women in Punjab are eligible for the scheme. The government has allocated ₹9,300 crore in the budget for the initiative. He said financial assistance is being transferred directly into the bank accounts of eligible women so that beneficiaries can receive the money without depending on intermediaries.

The Chief Minister also met Gurmel Kaur, popularly known as Mello, a resident of Adampura village, at his official residence. Mello had gained attention on social media after the launch of the scheme. During the meeting, she hugged the Chief Minister and blessed him. Mann also presented her with gifts as a gesture of respect and affection.

Sharing a video of the meeting on social media, Mann said meeting Gurmel Kaur gave him a sense of emotional satisfaction. He prayed that Waheguru would always keep a smile on her face. The Chief Minister also thanked all the mothers and sisters of Punjab for contributing to the success of the scheme.

Under the scheme, every eligible woman above the age of 18 is being provided financial assistance of ₹1,000, while eligible women belonging to the Scheduled Caste category are receiving ₹1,500. According to the Chief Minister, eligible beneficiaries are also receiving messages related to the scheme on their mobile phones. He appealed to all remaining eligible women to complete their registration and avail themselves of the benefits.

Mann said the financial assistance may not make women rich, but it would certainly give them self-respect. He said strengthening women’s economic position would increase their participation in social and economic decision-making. According to him, strengthening women’s financial independence is essential for promoting gender equality.

The Chief Minister said the scheme would provide women with direct financial assistance and help them take decisions related to their needs independently. He said the government’s focus is on expanding the coverage of the scheme and ensuring that financial assistance reaches eligible beneficiaries directly.

Mann categorically stated that no eligible woman would be deprived of the benefits of the scheme. He said, “As long as I am responsible for this office, no eligible beneficiary woman will be deprived of the benefits of the Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana.” He said the government would continue to expand the scheme to strengthen women’s dignity, financial participation and independence.
