A 22-year-old BA final-year student allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Faridkot after reportedly telling her family that some boys had been harassing her. Police have registered a case against unidentified persons and initiated an investigation.
The deceased has been identified as Aditi, a final-year BA student at Government Baljindra College. The incident took place in Mohalla Sethian in Faridkot.
According to a statement given to police by Aditi’s father, Anil Jain, she had been harassed for the past few days. He said Aditi had told the family that some boys were troubling her.
On Monday, Aditi returned home from college at around 1 pm and went to her room. When family members later called out to her, she did not respond or come out.
The family then entered the room and found her unresponsive. They immediately brought her down and informed the authorities, but she had already died.
Following the incident, police reached the spot and began the necessary proceedings. A case has been registered against unidentified persons, and further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the student’s death and examine the harassment allegations.
