Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh–
Haryana’s Transport Minister Anil Vij announced that on July 26 and 27, 2025, general passengers will also be allowed to travel in the buses operating in various cities of Haryana for the Common Entrance Test (CET) candidates. He said his suggestion was accepted by Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, as July 27 is the festival of Teej in Haryana, during which many people travel with their families. He added that it is equally important to ensure smooth, uninterrupted and safe public transportation services for the general public.
Vij said he had written to the Chief Minister regarding this matter, and the CM has agreed with the Transport Minister's recommendation. As per the proposal, buses scheduled and routed for CET candidates will now also be accessible to general passengers to avoid inconvenience during the festive period.
In his letter, Vij wrote to the CM that 20% buses cannot take load of entire Haryana on July 26 and 27 as on the occasion of Teej festival, a large number of citizens travel in buses. Therefore, additional arrangements should be made for the general public, to which the Chief Minister agreed.
It is worth noting that in response to a proposal related to travel arrangements for the CET written examination, the Transport Minister had stated that it is important to note that 27th July, 2025 also coincides with the celebration of Teej, a widely observed cultural and religious festival in Haryana on which, a large number of citizens, particularly women, travel to visit family and temples. Hence, ensuring smooth, uninterrupted, and safe public transport services for the general public is of equal importance. Therefore, it is necessary to determine that alternative and special arrangements have been made for the convenience of general public and commuters to attend their religious, social, cultural, day to day and other family functions etc., so that no inconvenience and hurdle be faced by them on these days.
