Teachers working in Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools in Punjab have expressed resentment after being asked to report for duty on Good Friday, despite it being an official holiday.
The holiday had extended the weekend to three days, but many CBSE teachers were unable to take advantage of it. In several schools in Ludhiana, evaluation centres have been set up for checking Class 10 board exam answer sheets, and teachers were instructed to attend these centres for paper evaluation.
CBSE is aiming to declare the Class 10 results earlier than usual this year. To meet the timeline, coordinators at evaluation centres have been calling teachers even on holidays to speed up the checking process.
According to plans, CBSE is likely to announce the Class 10 results between April 14 and April 27.
