Both players register impressive 3-1 victories in their respective semi-finals
Hana Moataz and Abhay Singh delivered outstanding performances to secure their places in the final of the Indian Open, winning their respective semi-final matches in style with 3-1 scorelines.
In the women’s semi-final, second seed Hana Moataz defeated her fellow Egyptian and third seed Nadien Elhammamy 3-1 (11-8, 5-11, 11-5, 11-7). The match began with a tightly contested opening game, where both players exchanged leads multiple times. Moataz eventually edged ahead to take the game 11-8.
The second game followed a similar pattern early on, but Elhammamy found her rhythm midway and pulled away to win 11-5, leveling the match. However, Moataz responded strongly, dominating the third game to claim it 11-5. She carried that momentum into the fourth game, maintaining control despite a brief fightback from Elhammamy, and sealed the match 11-7.
In the men’s semi-final, Abhay Singh overcame a tough challenge from Malaysia’s Ameeshenraj Chandaran with a 3-1 (11-9, 9-11, 11-3, 11-8) victory. The match was highly competitive, featuring powerful rallies and smart shot-making from both players.
Abhay started strong, building a 9-4 lead in the first game. Chandaran mounted a comeback with five consecutive points, but Abhay held his nerve to close it out 11-9. The second game remained evenly balanced, and Chandaran capitalized at a crucial moment to win 11-9 and level the match.
Abhay bounced back emphatically in the third game, cruising to an 11-3 win. In the fourth, he faced another challenge as he trailed 2-6, but showed great resilience to level at 7-7 before eventually sealing the game 11-8 and booking his spot in the final.
