A man identified as Karmveer alias Sameer, son of an employee of the Hansi Municipal Council, allegedly consumed poison while appearing live on Facebook on Friday. His family members reportedly saw the video and rushed to his location after noticing his deteriorating condition.
Karmveer was initially taken to a government hospital and was later referred to Hisar for further treatment. Police also reached the spot and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Before taking the extreme step, Karmveer reportedly left a note making serious allegations against several people, including a woman and individuals he described as being linked to the land mafia. He alleged that despite financial transactions being completed, he was being harassed and threatened.
In his Facebook Live video, Karmveer said he was under severe mental pressure and alleged that several people had "used" and harassed him. He named multiple individuals whom he held responsible for his condition and claimed that he had evidence against them, which he said was kept in the storage compartment of his scooter.
Karmveer also alleged that he used to help with municipal files and claimed that some people brought documents to him without revealing that they were allegedly improper. He further alleged that after their files were rejected, they demanded money from him and later denied receiving payments. He also claimed that false FIRs had been registered against him and his father.
He alleged that his father, whom he described as an honest and hardworking employee, had also been dragged into the matter. Karmveer further claimed that complaints submitted against the alleged accused were repeatedly rejected despite being accompanied by evidence.
In his note, Karmveer mentioned that he has three children — two daughters and a son — and expressed concern for his family. He appealed to the administration to take strict action against the people he had named and said he had lost hope of receiving justice during his lifetime.
According to police, Karmveer's father, Shamsher, works as an Electrician Grade-II with the Hansi Municipal Council. Police said the allegations made by Karmveer are being verified as part of the investigation.
