Haryana government has taken a major step toward ensuring timely and accountable public service delivery by bringing 33 Home Department services under the Haryana Right to Service (RTS) Act, 2014. The move aims to improve transparency, reduce delays, and make government services more citizen-friendly.

According to a notification issued by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, services such as arms licences, police verification, No Objection Certificates (NOCs), character certificates, and copies of FIRs will now be provided within fixed timelines. If the services are not delivered within the prescribed period, citizens will have the right to file an appeal before the designated grievance redressal authority.

Under the new framework, copies of FIRs and DDRs will be made available immediately or through online mode. Renewal of arms licences will be completed within 15 days, while permissions for loudspeakers, protests, and processions will be issued within seven days.

Tenant verification, domestic help verification, and character verification will be completed within 21 days. NOCs for fairs, sports events, and exhibitions will be issued within five days.

The notification also specifies the designated officer, first appellate authority, and second appellate authority for each service. Applicants who do not receive services within the stipulated timeframe can directly approach the appellate authorities for redressal.

The state government said that bringing these services under the Right to Service Act will reduce unnecessary visits to government offices, enhance transparency in service delivery, and ensure greater accountability among officials.
