Punjab Newsline,Chandigarh :

Haryana to become a centre of AI innovation, World Bank to provide ₹470 crore support

Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday said the state is set to emerge as a major hub for startups, deep tech and data centres, with artificial intelligence playing a key role in driving innovation and economic growth. He described AI not merely as a technology, but as a new mantra of development that will strengthen the vision of “Vocal for Local” and “Make in India.”

Addressing the TiE AI Summit–2026 held in Chandigarh, the CM emphasised that AI has the potential to transform governance, industry and society by delivering real, measurable impact. He said the theme “Glocal AI – Real Impact” is not just a concept, but a necessity of the present time, where global thinking must be applied effectively to meet local needs.

CM Saini stated that Haryana is being developed as a centre of AI-driven innovation, with the World Bank extending financial assistance of ₹470 crore to support this vision. The funding will help strengthen the startup ecosystem, promote deep tech research and facilitate the establishment of advanced data centres across the state. He added that these initiatives will create new employment opportunities and attract investments, positioning Haryana as a key contributor to India’s digital and technological growth.

Highlighting regional development, the CM said Panchkula is being envisioned as the “Silicon Valley of North India.” With focused efforts on infrastructure, innovation and entrepreneurship, the city is expected to become a preferred destination for technology companies and startups. He noted that this will enable young talent to access global opportunities while staying rooted locally.

The CM praised The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Chandigarh for organising the AI Summit, calling it a powerful platform that brings together innovators, entrepreneurs, policymakers and investors. Such forums, he said, provide a new direction to future technologies, innovation and entrepreneurship, while fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Former Minister of State Aseem Goyal, senior IAS officer J. Ganeshan and TiE Chandigarh President Puneet Verma also addressed the summit. The speakers highlighted Haryana’s growing potential in the fields of artificial intelligence, startups and deep technology, and expressed confidence that the state is moving in the right direction with strong policy support and institutional backing.

CM Saini concluded by expressing confidence that in the coming years, Haryana will emerge as one of the leading states in AI, startups and deep tech. He said these efforts will not only accelerate the state’s development but also strengthen India’s position on the global technology and innovation map.
