Team’s confidence high after a dominant 4–0 win over Uruguay; exciting clash in Hyderabad at 7:30 PM
After making a strong start in the FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup Qualifier 2026, the Indian women’s hockey team is now preparing for its next crucial match. On March 9, India will face Scotland in a Pool B clash in Hyderabad. The exciting match will begin at 7:30 PM at the GMC Balayogi Hockey Ground in the Gachibowli Sports Complex. The Indian team will aim to secure another victory to strengthen its chances of reaching the semi-finals.
India began its campaign in the tournament with an impressive 4–0 victory over Uruguay. The commanding win has boosted the confidence of the players, and the team will look to carry the same momentum into the match against Scotland.
In the match against Uruguay, India displayed an aggressive approach right from the start. During the first quarter, the Indian players made several circle entries and created multiple scoring opportunities. Although an early penalty corner did not result in a valid goal, the team maintained pressure throughout the match.
The first goal came in the 21st minute when Sunelita Toppo reacted quickly to a rebound from a penalty corner and successfully converted it into a goal, giving India the lead. The Indian team continued to dominate possession and launched consistent attacks in the second and third quarters.
In the 40th minute, Ishika doubled India’s lead after receiving an excellent pass from Sakshi Rana and calmly finishing into the bottom corner. Later in the match, Lalremsiami scored a brilliant field goal in the 49th minute, further strengthening India’s advantage.
In the final moments of the game, Rutuja Dadaso Pisal dribbled through the midfield and fired a powerful shot into the net in the 58th minute, sealing a comprehensive 4–0 victory for India.
