Rajasthan Royals’ teenage opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has made his intentions crystal clear ahead of IPL 2026—winning the trophy for the team remains his ultimate goal. The young batter, who grabbed headlines last season with his fearless stroke play, is now focused on converting individual brilliance into team success.
Sooryavanshi enjoyed a breakthrough IPL 2025 campaign, smashing a sensational 35-ball century and scoring 252 runs in just seven matches. His red-hot form continued on the international stage as he played a crucial role in India’s U-19 World Cup triumph, earning both Player of the Final and Player of the Tournament honors.
Speaking about his approach, Sooryavanshi said his role is to provide aggressive starts during the Powerplay and build long innings once settled. He believes that his attacking game can put immense pressure on opposition teams, especially in high-scoring chases. However, he emphasized that personal milestones will always come second to the team’s success.
The youngster also credited his childhood idols, Brian Lara and Yuvraj Singh, for shaping his mindset. He admired their ability to single-handedly finish matches, a trait he now aims to replicate in his own career.
Coming from Bihar’s domestic circuit, Sooryavanshi’s rise has been steady and impressive. From performing in local leagues to making an impact in U-19 tournaments and eventually debuting in the Ranji Trophy, his journey reflects dedication and consistent growth.
His childhood coach, Manish Ojha, recalled his unmatched hunger for batting and fearless attitude. Whether it was facing hundreds of deliveries in practice or achieving challenging targets in trials, Sooryavanshi consistently showcased his talent and determination.
As IPL 2026 unfolds, Rajasthan Royals will be banking heavily on their young star to deliver match-winning performances and help end their long wait for another championship title.
