The much-awaited schedule for the second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has been officially announced, sending excitement soaring among cricket fans. The IPL committee revealed the details at 6 PM through its official social media platforms. The second phase will kick off on April 13 and continue until May 24, featuring a total of 50 matches across 12 venues. Notably, the phase will include 8 double-header days, offering fans a thrilling double dose of cricket action.
Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru have chosen Raipur as their second home ground this season, where the team is set to play two important matches. This move brings IPL excitement closer to fans in Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, the first phase of the tournament is scheduled from March 28 to April 12, during which 20 matches will be played, setting the stage for an electrifying season. Although the playoff schedule is yet to be announced, it has been confirmed that the grand final will take place on May 31 in Bengaluru.
Speculations regarding the total number of matches have also been put to rest. While earlier reports suggested an expansion to 84 matches, the IPL committee has confirmed that the tournament will consist of 74 matches in total. Out of these, 70 matches will be played in the league stage, followed by 4 playoff games. With a packed schedule and intense competition ahead, IPL 2026 promises to deliver yet another unforgettable season of cricket.
