The intelligence chief of Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard was killed in an attack on Monday, according to Iranian state media. The Revolutionary Guard has blamed the United States and Israel for the incident. However, the exact location of the killing of Major General Majid Khademi has not been disclosed.

Israel has claimed responsibility for the assassination. The country’s Defence Minister stated that the intelligence chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard had been eliminated and vowed to target Iranian leadership “one by one.”

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, while making the announcement, said, “The Revolutionary Guard is firing at civilians, and we are eliminating the leaders of terrorism. Iran’s leaders are feeling threatened. We will continue to eliminate them one by one.”

Katz further claimed that Israel has caused “significant damage” to Iran’s steel and petrochemical industries. He added, “We will continue to crush Iran’s national infrastructure and contribute to the erosion and downfall of this terrorist regime, while eliminating its ability to spread terror and carry out attacks against Israel.”

Meanwhile, multiple airstrikes were carried out early Monday in residential areas around Iran’s capital.
