A shocking and tragic incident has come to light from Amritsar, where a 28-year-old woman, identified as Kuljeet Kaur, died under suspicious circumstances. She was married to Lovepreet Singh around two and a half years ago and is survived by her 9-month-old child. The incident has created panic and outrage in the area, with the victim’s family leveling serious allegations against her in-laws.
According to the family, just 30 minutes before her death, Kuljeet Kaur called her sister, claiming she was being beaten and that her life was in danger. She urged her sister to come immediately, but by the time the family reached the spot, she had already died. The incident triggered anger among the relatives, who are now demanding strict action against her husband and in-laws.
Police said they received information about the woman’s death in Harsa Chhina village in the Rajasansi area of Amritsar. The body has been taken into custody and sent for postmortem examination. Authorities stated that further action will be taken based on the report.
The victim’s father, Sucha Singh, and uncle, Jagroop Singh, alleged that Kuljeet was continuously harassed for dowry after her marriage. They claimed that her husband, along with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, pressured her to demand a share of land from her parental family. When she refused, citing poor financial conditions, she was allegedly subjected to physical assault.
Family Demands Arrest Before Last Rites
The family also stated that Kuljeet had been mentally and physically distressed for a long time. Following the incident, they have refused to perform her last rites until the accused are arrested.
Police officials said they are investigating the case from all angles and are currently recording statements of the victim’s family members.
