MP Kartikeya Sharma Raises Issue of Restoration of Long-Pending Key Rail Services in Parliament

Punjab Newsline, New Delhi-
Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Kartikeya Sharma today raised, through a Special Mention in the House, the need for early restoration of certain important rail services linked to regional connectivity and passenger convenience.

In his remarks, Sharma referred to the Kalka–Barmer Express, stating that the train has historically been a vital rail link connecting Kalka, Chandigarh and the Himachal region with major cities of Rajasthan. For several years, this route has served as a reliable and accessible mode of travel for lakhs of passengers.

He noted that such rail services are particularly beneficial for senior citizens, patients travelling for medical treatment, students, working professionals and small traders. The resumption of these trains, he said, would help ensure easier access to healthcare, education, employment opportunities and economic activity.

In addition, Sharma drew attention to the importance of other key trains such as the Himalayan Queen, Paschim Express and the Amritsar Mail operating from Kalka to Amritsar. He stated that these services have long provided safe, affordable and convenient travel options and have played an important role in strengthening regional connectivity.

Expressing confidence in the Railways’ continued focus on passenger welfare and connectivity, MP Kartikeya Sharma said that the restoration of these services would be considered positively at the earliest. He requested that the resumption of these trains be taken up in public interest and with due regard to regional development.

The Special Mention reflects Kartikeya Sharma’s continued commitment to citizen-centric infrastructure and issues affecting the daily lives of passengers.
