Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh–

Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij said that construction of the 121-kilometre-long Ambala–Shamli Expressway is progressing rapidly and will be completed by December 2026. He said that the expressway is being built from Ambala to Shamli, and further from Shamli to Delhi it will be connected to the Dehradun–Delhi Expressway. He also informed that construction of the Ambala–Mohali Expressway is progressing swiftly and will be completed soon. Once completed, travel to Chandigarh, Mohali, and other cities will become much easier.

The Minister also discussed the project to connect Ambala Cantonment with the Panchkula–Saharanpur Highway and issued directions to prepare a plan in this regard to the concerned officers.

Today, Vij directed to the officers of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to complete the ongoing national highway projects in Ambala at the earliest so that people can benefit. Notably, a target has been set to complete the Ambala Ring Road and Ambala–Shamli Expressway projects by December this year. To ensure these projects are completed on time, Minister, Vij held discussions with NHAI officers at his residence today.

While speaking to Ambala Project Director, NHAI, P. K. Sinha and other officers, Vij directed that construction of the Ambala Ring Road be completed as soon as possible so that motorists coming from Ambala and other states can benefit. He said that once the ring road is completed, vehicles coming from other states will be able to bypass Ambala without entering the city, thereby reducing traffic pressure in urban areas. He also discussed issues related to water drainage problems in Shahpur and Bara villages on the ring road, and providing access routes for residents of village Sepahra.

Project Director informed the Minister that construction of the ring road will be completed by December 2026.

Vij also discussed the construction of a new service lane on the railway overbridge on GT Road with NHAI officers. He said that the underpass coming from the railway colony beneath the railway overbridge should also be developed as per standards so that local residents can benefit. Officers informed that the service lane is being constructed at a cost of approximately Rs.30 crore and will be completed by June 2026.
