Punjab Newsline, Tarn Taran-
In a major show of strength ahead of the Tarn Taran by-election, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today received massive support from women and youth as over 100 families from the constituency joined the party. The women leaders of these families were formally welcomed into AAP by Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, Chairman Harchand Singh Barsat, Chairman Dr. S. S. Ahluwalia, MLA Dev Mann, and AAP leaders Gurdev Singh Lakhna and Gurwinder Singh Baidwal. Jeevan Bhatti played a key role in facilitating the joining of these leaders.
Prominent women leaders who joined AAP include Surinder Kaur, Raj Kaur, Joginder Kaur, Manpreet Kaur, Harjeet Kaur, Sonia, Palak, Narinder Kaur, Sonu, Barkha, Seema, Darshna, Mandeep Kaur, Sukhbir Kaur, Kuljit Kaur, Ajit, Parveen, Sumit, Ripika Robin, Rajni, Rohit, Padam, and Shivjot. Among the men who joined were Vansh, William, Rohit, and Pardeep.
Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that AAP’s growing support among women and youth reflects the people’s confidence in the honest and people-centric governance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. “A political Party achieves great success wherever women and youth stand with them. AAP's women wing works tirelessly in every election, and in AAP, hard work is always recognized and rewarded. We are proud to have women ministers, MLAs, and chairpersons serving the people,” Bhullar said.
Highlighting the Mann government’s welfare initiatives, Bhullar added, “People are getting free health cards, thousands of families have been given ownership rights to Lal Lakeer homes, and several pro-people schemes are empowering women and youth across Punjab.”
Chairman Harchand Singh Barsat welcomed the new members and said that the BJP’s anti-Punjab policies are being rejected by the people. “Just two days ago, hundreds of women leaders left the BJP and joined AAP. The BJP has constantly acted against Punjab’s interests — whether it is Panjab University, water issues, pending funds, or flood relief packages. In contrast, AAP is providing real facilities to women, from free bus travel to the upcoming ₹1000 monthly assistance scheme announced by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann,” Barsat said.
Chairman Dr. S. S. Ahluwalia said that women and youth are the driving force behind Punjab’s progress, and AAP is the only party that is truly investing in their empowerment.
MLA Dev Mann also welcomed the new joinees, saying, “The Aam Aadmi Party is the true voice of the people and is working sincerely for every section of society. I urge the people of Tarn Taran to support AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu and ensure his victory with a huge margin.”
With women and youth uniting under AAP’s banner, the party’s campaign in Tarn Taran has gained further momentum, signaling growing public trust in the Mann government’s clean and transparent governance.
