State-of-the-art Steel Manufacturing Facility to Boost Industrial Growth and Employment in Ludhiana
Punjab has achieved a significant milestone in strengthening its industrial landscape, securing a major greenfield investment of ₹1,003.57 crore in the special steel manufacturing sector. The announcement was made by CM for Industries & Commerce, Investment Promotion and Power, Mr. Sanjeev Arora, highlighting the state’s growing appeal as a hub for high-value industrial investment.
The investment will be made by AISRM Multimetals Private Limited (AISRM), part of the renowned Arora Iron Group, which boasts a group turnover of approximately ₹2,200 crore. The proposed facility will be set up over 46 acres in Village Jaspallon, along Doraha–Khanna Road, in Ludhiana district. Once operational, the project is expected to generate employment opportunities for over 920 people, providing a substantial boost to industrial jobs in the region.
The steel plant is planned to be executed in three phases, with the first phase scheduled to commence operations by September 2027. The facility will have an installed capacity of 5.40 lakh metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) and will manufacture a wide range of products, including Round Bars, Wire Rods, Coils, and Flats. Using scrap and ferro alloys as raw materials, the plant will operate on a triple-shift basis for nearly 350 days a year, underscoring the scale and continuous nature of operations.
Mr. Arora emphasized that the proposed facility would be equipped with the latest steelmaking technologies, including Induction Furnaces, Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF), Vacuum Degassing, Argon Oxygen Decarburization (AOD), Continuous Casting Machines, and advanced Rolling Mills. These state-of-the-art technologies will ensure the production of high-quality alloy and special steel products, catering to the growing demands of sectors such as automobile manufacturing and automotive components.
“The investment will not only strengthen Punjab’s special steel ecosystem but also reinforce Ludhiana’s position as a major industrial and metallurgical hub in North India,” said Mr. Arora. He highlighted that the project aligns perfectly with the Punjab Government’s vision of promoting industrial growth, value addition, employment generation, and sustainable manufacturing, leveraging the state’s robust industrial base, skilled workforce, and strategic logistical advantages.
CM Sanjeev Arora also noted that under the dynamic leadership of National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab is rapidly emerging as one of the most attractive investment destinations in the country. This new steel facility is expected to set a benchmark for high-quality industrial projects in the state and attract further investments in allied sectors.
With the AISRM project, Punjab is set to witness a transformative boost in its industrial infrastructure, creating high-value jobs, strengthening local manufacturing, and contributing significantly to the state’s economic growth. The move marks another step forward in Punjab’s ambition to become a leading hub for modern, sustainable, and technologically advanced industries in India.
