Several Congress Leaders and Workers Join AAP in Tarn Taran

AAP Punjab Working President Sherry Kalsi Inducts New Leaders into AAP

Punjab Newsline, Tarn Taran-

Ahead of the Tarn Taran by-election, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) received a major boost today when hundreds of local Congress leaders and workers announced their decision to quit the Congress party and join AAP. This large-scale joining, held on Wednesday, is being seen as a major setback for the Congress just before the by-election.

AAP Punjab Working President Aman Sher Singh Sherry Kalsi, in the presence of State General Secretary Harchand Singh Barsat, Chairman Dr. S. S. Ahluwalia, State Secretary Gurdev Singh Lakhna, and AAP leaders Jasbir Singh, welcomed all the new members and formally inducted them into AAP.

Those who left the Congress to join AAP included Baba Saroop Singh, Sukhpal Singh, Rachhpal Singh, Jatinder Singh, Surjit Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Dilbag Singh, Balwinder Singh, Amrik Singh, Veer Singh, Gurmel Singh, Gurbeer Singh, Parmbir Singh, Sahib Singh, Jaskaran Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Pargat Singh, Gurdev Singh, Chamkaur Singh, and Baldev Singh, along with hundreds of other leaders and workers.

Speaking to the media on this occasion, Aman Sher Singh Sherry Kalsi said that honest governance and people-centric policies of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann have inspired good people to join AAP every day. He said the Congress and Akali Dal have always betrayed the people of Tarn Taran, but today, with the arrival of hundreds of new supporters, the AAP has gained immense strength at the grassroots level. He expressed confidence that all these leaders would work wholeheartedly to ensure the victory of AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu.

State General Secretary Harchand Singh Barsat said that this joining clearly shows which way the political winds are flowing in the by-election. The traditional parties have plundered the border constituency of Tarn Taran for decades, while for the first time, the Bhagwant Mann government has brought genuine development here. He assured all the leaders who joined from Congress that they would be given full respect and dignity within the party. “Let’s all unite to ensure a massive victory for Harmeet Sandhu,” he added.

Dr. S. S. Ahluwalia said that the AAP government is practicing the politics of work, while the opposition parties have no agendas to talk about. The decision of these leaders to leave the Congress and join AAP proves that people now want real development. He said Harmeet Singh Sandhu is an educated and dedicated candidate who stands with the people in their times of need, and his victory will guarantee the development of Tarn Taran.

All the newly inducted leaders thanked the party high command and assured that they would work with full dedication to ensure the victory of AAP candidate Harmeet
