UT CS Inaugurates REV Expo 2026; Emphasises Making Chandigarh a Green and Sustainable City

Says in next three years, 350 new e-buses will be introduced on Chandigarh’s roads taking total strength to 500

Chandigarh Administration Chief Secretary H. Rajesh Prasad IAS on Friday inaugurated the 4th Edition of the Renewable Energy and Electric Vehicle (REV) Expo 2026 organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in collaboration with CREST and Eventage at the Exhibition Ground, Sector-34, Chandigarh.

This event marks a significant milestone in advancing India’s clean energy and electric mobility agenda.
REV Expo 2026 is Northern India’s largest platform, showcasing the latest technologies in renewable energy, solar power, electric vehicles, battery storage, and charging infrastructure. The three-day event will continue from January 9 to 11.

In his address the Chief Secretary, who was the Chief Guest emphasised India’s transition towards a low-carbon and sustainable economy. He highlighted the critical role of renewable energy and electric vehicles in combating climate change, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and improving urban air quality. He called upon industry, academia, and government institutions to collaboratively scale up clean technologies, strengthen infrastructure, and create an enabling ecosystem for innovation and investments in the renewable energy and EV sectors.

He remarked that Chandigarh is also known as the 'City Beautiful' and that renewable energy plays the most crucial role in this city. He informed that from the perspective of public transport 150 electric buses have already been inducted into the Chandigarh Transport fleet and in the next three years, 350 new e-buses will be introduced on Chandigarh’s roads. After three years a total of 500 electric buses will be seen plying on the city’s roads, he added.

The Guest of Honour Saurabh Kumar, IFS, Secretary, Renewable Energy and Solar, Chandigarh Administration, stressed the need for robust policy frameworks, state-level initiatives, and institutional support mechanisms to accelerate the adoption of solar energy and electric mobility. He shared insights into Chandigarh’s progressive initiatives in renewable energy deployment, energy efficiency, and sustainable urban development, while emphasising the importance of innovation, capacity building, and public-private partnerships to achieve clean energy targets.
Similarly Satish Dev Jain, Chair, Haryana State Chapter, PHDCCI in his address underlined the growing relevance of renewable energy and electric mobility in achieving economic growth while ensuring environmental sustainability. He stated that the REV Expo has emerged as a significant platform for showcasing cutting-edge technologies, promoting industry-government collaboration, and creating new business and investment opportunities across the clean energy value chain.
The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Adv.Lokesh Jain Co-Chair, Haryana State Chapter PHDCCI who acknowledged the dedication of the PHDCCI Secretariat, organising committee and supporting partners in successfully organising the event and laying a strong foundation for the three-day Expo.
The session was moderated by Gurdarshan Aggarwal, Resident Director, Haryana State Chapter, PHDCCI, who highlighted PHDCCI’s proactive role in fostering dialogue among policymakers, industry stakeholders, startups, and technology providers. While Rajneesh Bansal, Chair Chandigarh Chapter, was also present on the occasion.
