It changed me for good.” He expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him during the journey and revealed that working on the film coincided with a difficult phase in his life.

The actor also spoke about the physical and emotional challenges he faced while shooting. Mentioning injuries, personal life changes, and complete submission to the craft, Varun hinted at how demanding the film was, both mentally and physically. Despite the hardships, he remained committed to his character and the story.

Varun further said he is eagerly waiting for audiences to watch the film, adding that he cannot wait for everyone to experience it on the big screen. “Border 2” is scheduled to release on January 23.

According to Varun Dhawan, the film is based on the 1971 war and includes some true events. The film is presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series, in association with J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films. It is backed by a strong production team including Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, and is directed by Anurag Singh.

Notably, J.P. Dutta’s original blockbuster “Border” was released in 1997 and remains one of India’s most iconic war films. It featured a powerful ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Puneet Issar, Sudesh Berry, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda, along with Tabu, Pooja Bhatt, Rakhee Gulzar, Sharbani Mukherjee, Sapna Bedi, and Rajiv Goswami.

On the work front, after “Border 2”, Varun Dhawan will be seen in “Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai”, which also stars Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur. The film is set to release on June 5, 2026, after being postponed from its earlier release date of April 10, 2026. The title is believed to be inspired by the popular song “Hai Jawani Toh Pyaar Hona Hai” from David Dhawan’s film “Biwi No 1”.
