Punjabi hitmaker turns the comedy show into a live concert as music, humour and star power collide
Punjabi music sensation AP Dhillon chose a rather unconventional yet highly entertaining platform to debut his latest track “Thinking of You” — The Great Indian Kapil Show. Appearing alongside stand-up comedian and actor Anubhav Singh Bassi, the singer delivered the first-ever performance of his new song, instantly transforming the show’s set into a high-energy concert arena.
As soon as AP Dhillon took the stage, the atmosphere shifted from comedy to full-blown musical celebration. The performance marked a special moment for fans, as “Thinking of You” was unveiled for the first time in front of a live audience on national streaming television. The crowd response made it clear that the track is already on its way to becoming another fan favourite.
The episode was packed with laughter and memorable one-liners. Host Kapil Sharma took a humorous dig at the controversies surrounding AP Dhillon’s Delhi concert from December last year, where several attendees had reported thefts of expensive mobile phones and wallets. Kapil quipped, “AP stage pe apna talent dikha rahe the… aur log audience mein apna talent,” sending the audience into fits of laughter.
Taking the joke sportingly, AP Dhillon responded with a witty punchline of his own: “Jisne 6 lakh diye hain, poora toh karna hai,” cleverly turning the incident into a laugh-worthy moment. For context, after the Delhi leg of AP Dhillon’s One of One India Tour, multiple complaints were lodged regarding stolen electronic gadgets. Reports later confirmed that the crime branch arrested four accused and recovered nearly 40 smartphones worth several lakhs.
Adding more humour to the episode, Anubhav Singh Bassi revealed that he had DM’d AP Dhillon on Instagram just a day before the shoot but received no reply, jokingly remarking, “Dosti hui bhi nahi hai.” This sparked a light-hearted bromance roast that had the audience roaring with laughter.
The madness escalated with Krushna Abhishek and Kiku Sharda appearing as Bada Shaikh and Chota Shaikh, while Sunil Grover, in his Diamond Raja avatar, added his quirky spin to AP’s popular track “With You.” Music collaborator Shinda Kahlon also joined in, completing the perfect blend of music and comedy.
The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 4 streams on Netflix every Saturday at 8 PM, continuing to bring together entertainment’s biggest names under one roof.
