Winning an ICC Tournament Is the Ultimate Goal, Want to Become Stronger for Team India: Prasidh Krishna

Punjab Newsline,Sports:

During the New Zealand series, the Indian pacer opens up about his career journey, comeback, and future ambitions

Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has shared his thoughts on his long journey with Team India, his current role in the side, and his long-term ambitions. Speaking during the ongoing three-match ODI series against New Zealand, Prasidh said that his biggest goal is to represent India at an ICC tournament and play a key role in helping the team win a championship.

Prasidh Krishna was part of India’s playing XI in the first two ODIs of the series. He made a strong start by picking up two wickets in the opening match, while the second game proved to be more challenging for him. For the third and decisive ODI, he was rested, with Arshdeep Singh included in the playing XI.

Reflecting on his career so far, Prasidh said his initial phase with Team India was encouraging, but injuries disrupted his rhythm and kept him away from the game for a considerable period. During his absence, the format and rules of white-ball cricket evolved, including changes in powerplay regulations and the use of two new balls, which made his comeback more challenging. However, he believes the ups and downs of his journey have helped him grow as a cricketer.

Talking about his priorities, Prasidh emphasized the importance of consistency in his performances. He said his focus is on continuously improving his game, becoming more reliable for the team, and consistently challenging opposition batters. According to him, contributing to team victories on a regular basis is the true measure of success for any player. Like every cricketer, he added, his ultimate dream is to play in an ICC event and be part of a title-winning Indian team.

Prasidh also spoke about the change in his role within the Indian white-ball setup. While he has traditionally operated with the new ball, he is now being entrusted with the responsibility of bowling during the middle overs as well. He explained that bowling in the middle and death overs is particularly demanding, as batters tend to attack aggressively during these phases.

He noted that success in these overs depends on maintaining strict consistency in line and length, avoiding predictability, and using a variety of deliveries. Prasidh believes that adaptability and smart execution are crucial to handling pressure situations effectively.

With a clear focus on improvement, discipline, and learning, Prasidh Krishna is confident that he can become a stronger asset for Team India and play an important role in major international tournaments in the years to come.
