In an unusual protest against the alleged shortage of cooking gas amid rising tensions in West Asia, former councillor Vijay Kumar from the Linepar area staged a dramatic demonstration on the streets of Bathinda.

Dressed as a horse-riding bandit, Vijay Kumar symbolically “looted” LPG cylinders from people to highlight the difficulties faced by residents. The unique protest quickly drew public attention and sparked discussion over the issue.

Speaking to the media, Kumar claimed that despite booking LPG cylinders, many consumers are not receiving timely deliveries. He held both the central and state governments responsible for the situation, alleging poor management and lack of oversight.

Kumar further stated that remarks made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament about the possibility of conditions similar to the COVID-19 pandemic returning had triggered panic among the public. According to him, this led to hoarding and black marketing of gas cylinders, ultimately affecting common citizens.

He criticized such statements, saying they should have been avoided, as they can create fear and instability in the market. Kumar added that it is the general public that is bearing the brunt of the resulting situation.
