India Aim for Clean Sweep With 3-0 Lead in Series, Ishan Kishan Ruled Out, New Zealand Make One Change
The fourth match of the five-match T20 series between India and New Zealand is being played on Wednesday at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam. India won the toss and decided to bowl first. Left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has been included in the Indian playing eleven, while wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been ruled out of the match due to a minor injury. India have already taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series and will be looking to move one step closer to a clean sweep with another win.
After the toss, India captain Suryakumar Yadav said the pitch looked good and dew could play a role later in the night, which may make batting easier in the second innings. He added that the team wants to continue following the good habits developed over the past year and focus on playing consistent cricket in every match. In Ishan Kishan’s absence, the responsibility on the batting unit will increase, but the team plans to maintain a fearless approach.
Suryakumar also confirmed that vice-captain Axar Patel is still recovering from an injury and has not been rushed back into the side. The team management is hopeful that Axar could return for the final match of the series. With several quality bowling options available, India feel well-prepared to adapt to match conditions and execute their plans effectively.
New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner stated that fast bowler Zakary Foulkes has been brought into the playing eleven, replacing Kyle Jamieson. He acknowledged that India have been the better side in the first three matches and said New Zealand need to improve, especially with the ball. Santner noted that the pitch appears good for batting early on, and his team will aim to post a competitive total to put pressure on the Indian side.
India enter the match with strong confidence and momentum, while New Zealand view this game as an important opportunity to restore pride and keep their hopes alive in the series.
