Review Meeting of Various Schemes of Urban Local Bodies Held

An important meeting was held today in Chandigarh to review the progress of various schemes of the Central and State Governments and to strengthen cleanliness, improve civic amenities, and enhance urban services in the state. Officials from municipal bodies across Haryana participated in the meeting and presented detailed reports on the ongoing works in their respective areas.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Saket Kumar, Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Commissioner & Secretary of the Department of Urban Local Bodies, Haryana. Ashok Kumar Meena, Director General of Urban Local Bodies and Secretary of the Department, was also present. He directed the officials that no negligence in matters related to cleanliness, solid waste management, and civic amenities would be tolerated and that all works must be completed within the stipulated timelines.

During the meeting, the Commissioner and Secretary ordered the suspension of the Junior Engineer of Shahabad Municipality for not conducting the survey under the ‘Mhari Sadak Yojana’ and directed that a charge sheet be issued to the Municipality Secretary.

The progress of announcements made by the Chief Minister was also reviewed during the meeting. Officials were asked to provide updates on the current status of projects, budget allocation, and pace of implementation. Special discussions were held on urban drainage, Right-to-Way smart roads, smart markets, procurement of machinery and equipment, sports complexes, and ultra-modern parks for persons with disabilities. Officials were instructed to prioritize these projects, ensure timely completion, and conduct regular monitoring.

The utilization of funds received under the Central and State Finance Commissions was reviewed. Officials were asked to provide details regarding the usage of allocated funds, ongoing works, and remaining balances. They were directed to ensure transparent and timely utilization of grants as per prescribed guidelines to accelerate development works.

Review of Approved Development Projects

The status of development projects approved at the headquarters level was reviewed. Information regarding sanctioned projects, their budgets, and progress in various urban local bodies was obtained. Officials were instructed to expedite pending projects on priority and ensure effective and transparent use of funds.

Progress of PM SVANidhi Scheme

 While reviewing the progress of the PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme, officials were directed to ensure that maximum street vendors benefit from the scheme. Emphasis was laid on simplifying the registration, loan disbursement, and repayment processes. It was stated that this scheme plays a crucial role in empowering small vendors economically, and no eligible beneficiary should be left out.
