Govt to soon formulate India&39;s first fair ride safety policy- CM

Medical expenses of those injured in the unfortunate incident at the Surajkund International Crafts Mela to be borne by the Government

Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday said that the state will formulate India’s first-ever fair ride safety policy to ensure comprehensive safety standards for amusement rides and recreational equipment. The proposed policy aims to prevent accidents and strengthen regulatory oversight to safeguard public safety.

Interacting with mediapersons at Haryana Niwas on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said the government is committed to taking strict and effective measures to ensure that incidents like the recent Surajkund amusement ride accident are not repeated. He described the incident as unfortunate and assured that the matter was being treated with utmost seriousness. Two individuals have already been arrested in connection with the case, he informed.

The Chief Minister further shared that all injured persons are undergoing treatment, and the entire cost of medical care will be borne by the Haryana government. Additionally, financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh will be provided to each seriously injured person. Expressing condolences over the death of Inspector Jagdish, who lost his life in the incident, the Chief Minister said that one family member of the deceased police officer will be given a government job, along with financial assistance.
